My Muslim App ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users ("you", "your"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the My Muslim App mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.
The App may collect information that you voluntarily provide, including: your preferred prayer calculation method, preferred language, notification preferences, Zakat calculation data (processed locally and not transmitted), Wasiyyah (Islamic will) data (stored locally on your device in encrypted form and never transmitted to our servers), and any feedback or messages you send to us through the Contact form.
When you use the App, we may automatically collect: your approximate location (for prayer times and Qibla direction — only when you grant permission), device information (model, operating system version, app version) for bug reporting and compatibility, and anonymous usage analytics (which features are used most frequently) to improve the App.
We do NOT collect: your real name or identity (the App does not require account creation), your contacts, photos, or files, your financial information (Zakat and inheritance calculations are performed entirely on your device), the content of your Wasiyyah (Islamic will) — this is stored only on your device in encrypted form, any biometric data, or any information about your specific religious practices, prayers, or worship habits.
We use the information we collect to: provide and maintain the App's core functionality (prayer times, Qibla direction), send you notifications you have opted into (prayer reminders, daily hadith, companion of the day), improve and optimise the App based on anonymous usage patterns, respond to your inquiries and support requests, and comply with legal obligations.
The App uses your device's location to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location access is requested only when you use these features and only with your explicit permission. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. We do not store, transmit, or share your precise location with any third party.
All personal data (preferences, Wasiyyah drafts, checklist progress) is stored locally on your device. Sensitive data such as Wasiyyah content is encrypted using industry-standard encryption. We do not maintain servers that store your personal data. Anonymous analytics data, if collected, is processed through privacy-respecting analytics services and cannot be used to identify individual users.
The App may use the following third-party services: Google Play Services (for app distribution and updates), Firebase Crashlytics (for anonymous crash reporting to improve stability), and prayer time APIs (for calculation verification). Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal information to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. The App does not contain advertisements.
The App is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require account creation and does not collect identifying information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the Contact form, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
You have the right to: access, correct, or delete any personal data the App stores on your device (through the App's settings), opt out of all notifications at any time, revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings, request information about what data we process (contact us at the email below), and request deletion of any data associated with your support inquiries.
Local data on your device persists until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Support inquiries and associated contact information are retained for up to 12 months after the inquiry is resolved, then permanently deleted.
The App is available worldwide. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy regardless of your location. We comply with applicable data protection laws including the GDPR (for EU/EEA users) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and, for significant changes, through an in-app notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
